Course Description
This BTEC National Award is a two year course equivalent to one A level grade E-A. It is designed to give learners the knowledge, understanding and technical skills to prepare them for employment in a Forensic Science laboratory or to continue their study in higher education. Students need to have a commitment to hard work as the grading is through continuous assessment. Assignments are set for each of the six modules:
- Fundamentals of Science
- Scientific Practical Techniques
- Using Science in the Workplace
- Criminology
- Forensic Evidence Collection an Analysis
- Criminal Psychology
Students generate portfolios of work which are assessed to give an overall grade of pass, merit or distinction.
Successful completion of the first three units gives the student a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Applied Science.
